Ⅵ. 重要ツールのインストール(Install important system tools)

1. システムロガーをインストール(Install system logger)

# emerge syslog-ng 
# rc-update add syslog-ng default

2. cronデーモンをインストール(Install cron daemon)

# emerge vixie-cron
# rc-update add vixie-cron default

3. ホットプラグをインストール(install hotplug)

# emerge hotplug
# rc-update add hotplug default

Ⅶ. カーネルに関するドライバ等のインストール(Install Specialised Kernel Ebuilds)

1. pcmciaツールのインストール(Installing pcmcia-cs)

# USE="-X" emerge pcmcia-cs
# rc-update add pcmcia default

※ コンパイルでエラー発生。　エラーログを見ると、

/usr/src/linux/include/asm does not exist!
   To fix, do 'ln -s asm-i386 asm' in /usr/src/linux/include.

となっていたので、

# cd /usr/src/linux/include
# ln -s asm-i386 asm

をしてから、再インストールしたらOKでした。

Ⅷ. 最終設定(Finalise the Configuration Settings)

1. rootパスワードの設定(Setting the root password)

# passwd

2. ユーザの設定(Adding a user for day-to-day use)

# useradd your_user -m -G users,wheel,audio,tty -s /bin/bash
# passwd your_user

3. ホスト名、ドメインの設定(Set the system hostname/domainname)

# echo mymachine > /etc/hostname
# echo mydomain.com > /etc/dnsdomainname
# rc-update add domainname default

4. hostsの設定(Set the hostsfile; mymachine.mydomain.com)

サーバに使うので、固定アドレスで記入

# nano -w /etc/hosts

127.0.0.1	localhost
192.168.0.2	mymachine mymachine.mydomain.com

5. システム情報の設定(System Information)

キーボード指定。CtrlとCaps Lockを入れ替え。システムクロックを日本時間に。

# nano -w /etc/rc.conf

KEYMAP="jp106"
SET_WINDOWKEYS="yes"
EXTENDED_KEYMAPS="ctrl"
CLOCK="local"

6. セキュリティの設定(Adding tts/0 to /etc/securetty)

# echo "tts/0" >> /etc/securetty

Ⅸ. ネットワーク設定(Set up Networking)

1. IPアドレスの設定(Setup networking; iface_eth0="dhcp")

固定IPで利用するので、IPとG/Wアドレスを設定する。

# nano -w /etc/conf.d/net

iface_eth0="192.168.0.2 broadcast 192.168.0.255 netmask 255.255.255.0"
gateway="eth0/192.168.0.1"

2. 起動時、ネットワークを有効に(start networking automatically at boot)

# rc-update add net.eth0 default

Ⅹ. ブートローダの設定(Install and configure GRUB)

1. GRUBをインストール(Installing GRUB)

# emerge grub

2. grub.confを設定(Creating /boot/grub/grub.conf)

# nano -w /boot/grub/grub.conf

default 0
#timeout 15
splashimage=(hd0,1)/grub/splash.xpm.gz

title=Gentoo Linux
root (hd0,1)
kernel /kernel-2.6.8-gentoo-r3 root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc ramdisk=8192 real_root=/dev/hda3 apm=on vga=791

chainloader +1

3. mtabを更新(Updating /etc/mtab)

# cp /proc/mounts /etc/mtab

4. ブートローダをインストール(Running grub-install)

# grub
grub> root (hd0,1)
grub> setup (hd0,1)
grub> quit

ⅩⅠ. 終了処理(Finishing off)

1. インストール環境から抜ける(Exiting the chroot)

# exit; cd /

2. マウント解除(Unmounting partitions)

# umount /mnt/gentoo/boot
# umount /mnt/gentoo/home
# umount /mnt/gentoo/proc
# umount /mnt/gentoo

3. リブート(Reboot; Remove the universal CD from the tray)

# reboot
